The Lakers come to town tomorrow...

And the Celtics only had 10 bodies available at practice today. Marquis and Jermaine O'Neal were obviously absent, along with Shaq and Paul Pierce. The Captain has apparently come down with a cold, but he will be suited up tomorrow night.  

In happier news, today marked the return of Delonte West to full contact practice. He pleaded with Doc to allow him to return Thursday, instead of after the All Star break. The coaching staff apparently shot this idea down... But they were also opposed to letting Perk return early... Up until the day that he did. As we've seen, anything can happen, but I doubt Delonte plays tomorrow. One full contact practice is cutting it a little short, even considering the shortage of available players the Celtics are dealing with now. 

I've had enough of the KG bashing.

KG has always been intense, and his on the court antics are a well known aspect of his game. However, it seems like everyday now a new person is coming out of the woodwork with something negative to say about KG and his behavior. Here are some recent examples:

Alvin Gentry: "I used to be a big fan of Kevin Garnett. Some of the antics he's pulled lately, you don't need to do that as a star player. I've never seen Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, or even a Dwyane Wade do that... If you're asking me, yeah, I lost a little respect for him."

Spike Lee: "Kevin Garnett lost it. He was cursing me out for no reason. Maybe because Stoudemire gave him 39 points, but take that vulgarity to Stoudemire. I did not even say sh*t to Garnett the whole game... He needs to calm the f*** down."

Eduardo Najera: "He did elbow me in the face at the end. I just told him he hits like my Grandma."

The list goes on and on here- Joakim Noah, Andrew Bogut, Andray Blatche- blah blah blah.

To all these stans, I only have this to say: You just wish he was on your team. You might think his antics have no place in the game of basketball, but I think it's your antics that have no place. If you think KG crossed a line- okay. But Alvin Gentry and the Suns won the game when KG tapped Channing Frye in the balls. Eduardo Najera and the Bobcats won last night, when KG allegedly elbowed Najera. If you don't like it, let your play do the talking. KG acts crazy on the court, but he never uses the media to publicly disrespect someone. It's childish and inappropriate. This is not to say that I think KG should have free reign to do whatever crazy stuff he wants during the game- but it's the job of the refs to control that, and they do- he gets T'd up and told to sit down. At the end of the day, part of what makes him so great is that intensity. As a Celtics fan, I'm gonna stand by my man here, through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Reggie Miller never thought his record would be broken and now he can't wait to be witness to Ray Allen smashing it. Riiight.

Classy, Reggie... I just don't believe you. Maybe Reggie Miller is much more mature than I am in (which, admittedly is a real possibility), but in my mind there's no conceivable way that he could be happy about someone breaking his record. I guess if it has to be broken, Ray Allen is the best person to go down to. Plus... it's probably bad luck for everyone to think the record is going to be broken Thursday. He's still two away!

A dream come true for Celtics fans everywhere!

It's now possible to smell like Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom! AT THE SAME TIME!!! The couple is preparing to release a unisex scent. What will it smell like? Sweaty uniforms meet publicity stunt? Also, in terms of a unisex scent... Is it a perfume? Is it a cologne? Or what? There are some celebrities who I might be interested in smelling like, but in general the whole celebrity scent thing does nothing for me. I wonder who came up with the idea for this, and who thought there would be a large audience of people lining up to smell like the Kardashian-Odom duo.... It's beyond me.

Finding inspiration from the Packers

Food for thought: The Packers won the Super Bowl with 15 people on the injured reserve list, and endured three additional injuries to key players during the game last night to come out on top. Great teams win the battle of attrition. 

In other news: 

With no Marquis Daniels and no Delonte West, the Celtics are calling Avery back up to the big leagues. I don't know how much time he'll see... But I do know that yesterday I was sitting directly across from the Celtics bench and it was mighty empty. More than likely, Avery will see limited time, and it will be Von Wafer who will see a more dramatic boost in his minutes. I also want to add that I like to give Von Wafer a hard time, because he talks to lots of naked women on Twitter and I think that's nasty... But I was impressed by him yesterday. He played 13 minutes and he didn't do anything spectacular, but he played hard, and displayed lots of hustle on the defense end. And when he was on the bench, he was constantly cheering his teammates on and remained involved in the game from the sidelines. Always good to see.

The Celtics are also going to be without Shaq for a little while. That's okay. What's most important is that he's good to go when it matters most. We'll being seeing more Semih for sure... But we could also be seeing some Harangody action! Ayyy! 

Recap: The Celtics are better than the Magic.

I was at the game today. Rondo had a monster game, and I was also really impressed by Perk. The Celtics started out slow, and had a rough first quarter. They recovered and thoroughly outplayed the Magic for the remaining three quarters, even though the refs sucked. Dwight Howard is annoying and whines a lot.

Being there when Marquis got injured was harrowing and really hard. It happened so fast, and all of the sudden he was just lying on the floor motionless, and 18,000 people were silent. I felt absolutely helpless, and shocked, and even a little bit nauseous. I also felt like I shouldn't even be there, and like I had no business to be sitting there watching him in his time of great pain and panic. Words can not describe my relief in learning that he's going to be okay. The Celtics played more inspired basketball after it happened... but after he was taken off of the court, it was hard for me to transition back in to watching the game. It felt wrong for me to get in to the game and cheer and be happy when he was in the hospital. Don't get me wrong, it's admirable that the Celtics kept their composure and won that game. I'm sure they thought of him while doing so. I don't personally know Marquis Daniels, but everyone who's a big fan of any team knows that it's an emotional thing. As an NBA fan, you watch your team 82 nights a year, and it's inevitable that you develop a connection to your team and it's players. I am thankful for all that Marquis has brought to this team in the past 2 years, and I wish him a speedy, safe recovery.
